Denise Welch has confirmed that her son Matty Healy is engaged to model Gabbriette Bechtel.

Bechtel recently fueled engagement rumors by posting an Instagram story at a Charli XCX show in New York City, where she wrote, “MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY BRAT” and shared a mirror selfie showcasing her ring.

Now, Healy’s mother Denise Welch has confirmed the news to The Mirror. According to People, the couple has been dating since September 2023. Welch told The Mirror: “I have known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged. They visited their friends Charli and George in New York. This morning, I discovered they had announced it on Instagram. It’s Instagram official—he’s engaged to Gabbriette. He had a black diamond ring made for her, and I couldn’t be more thrilled.

“She’s from Los Angeles, absolutely gorgeous, and even has a pet rat. We couldn’t be happier—she is everything I would want in a daughter-in-law.”
