Fans were eager to see Maren Morris and Hozier collaborate at this year’s All Things Go festival in Columbia, Md., where both artists were part of the lineup.

During Maren Morris’ set on Sunday (Sept. 29 2024), fans got exactly what they hoped for when Hozier surprised the audience by joining her on stage with little notice, causing excitement to erupt at Merriweather Post Pavilion. As the crowd sang along, the two artists harmonized beautifully on their 2019 duet “The Bones,.

“When the bones are good, the rest don’t matter/ Yeah, the paint could peel, the glass could shatter/ Let it rain, ’cause you and I remain the same,” they sang, sharing a heartfelt hug before Hozier exited the stage.

A few hours later Hozier took to the main stage to close out the festival with his headlining set, giving a shout-out to Maren Morris. “Maren is such a wonderful person and a uniquely talented artist,” he told the cheering crowd, praising “The Bones” as a “stunning” song. “That was a lot of fun, thanks to everyone who was there.”

During his performance, Hozier also expressed gratitude to the audience for helping him achieve his first U.S. No. 1 this spring with “Too Sweet,” which topped the Hot 100. He delivered a passionate speech advocating for acceptance and world peace, urging fans to contact their representatives to support a ceasefire in Gaza.

The festival wrapped up two days of live music, featuring acts like Laufey, the Kennedy Center Orchestra, Reneé Rapp, Conan Gray, Janelle Monáe, Bleachers, and more.

One absence that was keenly felt at both the New York City and Maryland festivals was Chappell Roan, who had to withdraw last minute to focus on her mental health. Muna stepped in to perform on Sunday, covering “Good Luck, Babe!” at both events, while a group of drag performers hosted a dance party themed around The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess in place of Roan’s set in New York on Saturday (Sept. 282024).
